Howdy all!

Let's travel back in time shall we?...all the way back to May 15th, hahaha.
One of my 'twin prints' was included in a very cool Etsy article in The Storque (their handmade blog).  It talks all about Gemini's and how great twins are. Check it out! Here!

Twins! part 1 - blog feature

It's feature time! Yeah yeah baby can you dig it?...now I want to watch Dig! again. For those who haven't had the pleasure of seeing this rockumentary, go out and rent it NOW.

Anyhow, getting back to the point of this post, one of my prints was featured on Cathie U's blog! Very cool.

Can you guess which one? Guess correct, and you won't win a prize but you will win my respect.

Go ahead and cheat and see the whole post here: http://www.cathieu.com/ and check out her whole blog while you're there. It's full of fantastic, whimsical art!

On to another tangent, I'm seeing Fischerspooner tonight for free! Hopefully I'll post a review of the show, and if I forget, you can just assume that it was awesome.

Joshua Tree / Cabazon part 1

A few weeks ago, me and a hand full of friends crammed all our bodies, and camera equipment, into my car and headed to Joshua Tree. It was a fun filled photo day adventure, with beautiful landscapes and perfect weather.
We also traveled to Cabazon land of magic and dinosaurs!...think Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

Here's a little sneak peek (these photos were taken by my lovely friend Angela G.):

I'll post more pictures later...it's too early to give away the grand finale, hee hee hee.

Counting is Number One!

I just can't watch this enough times! The skeleton and bat part is definitely the best, no wait, the zebra and elephant....hmmm, there are just too many good parts.

Come on everyone, sing along:

Who remembers this Sesame Street classic?!
...I think this song is going to be stuck in my head all day. Awesome.

I'm so excited!

It's true, I am!...except for the scared part.

'What makes this gal so insanely happy?' you might be thinking. Well, the fabulous Swiv Tackle Circus Gallery is now carrying prints by yours truly! Definitely make your way to 530 South Coast Hwy in Oceanside CA and check this place out. They've got lots to offer, including lowbrow art exhibits, apparel and accessories made by local artists, and all the fancy black and white striped fabric you can imagine. They even have a garden outside! So go there already...you won't be disappointed.

Have you heard the news?!

I made it into the North Park Craft Mafia's 'Spring Line Up!' Oh happy day!
Check out all the info here. I'll keep you updated as the day of the event (May 17th) gets closer.

...And...I also made it into the San Diego Comic Con's art show! Wowee! So many exciting things.

On a different note, I rediscovered this image while searching for Lucille Ball photos.

The woman of a million personas: Cindy Sherman as a Lucille Ball type vixen.

Any amazing things happening for you today?! Or find any interesting imagery?! Tell me!

Necklaces, art for your neck.

Oh my gato, an artist collaboration!

Me and Cat of Polarity teamed up to create some amazing lockets. Cat constructs these necklaces from recycled car parts, but don't worry, they don't look anything like a rusty old engine. She pieced together her jewelry with my illustrations. The final product:

The Dead Weather = The Kills + The Raconteurs

I just discovered (maybe I'm the last to know) that Jack White, of The White Stripes/Raconteurs, and Alison Mosshart, of The Kills, are rocking out together! Their new band The Dead Weather includes members Jack Lawrence and Dean Fertita - of The Raconteurs. Read a fatastic article about it here: Pitchfork.

And have a listen...you won't be disappointed: The Dead Weather

Crap, another band to add to my 'bands I must see live' list.

Commissioned Portrait Extravaganza

Thought I would share a bit of my painting process with all of you out there in blog-world. I'm planning on continuing these to give you an extra peek of the steps from start to finish. Here's an example of a commissioned work I created many moons ago. Feast your eyes on the late night glory!...yes, I'm a night owl by nature.

It all starts with a final sketch...after TONS of other reject sketches. A huge amount of time is spent working with the layout and execution of the drawing before the paint even hits the palette.
Then some prep work.

No joke, the actual cat I was referencing had David Bowie eyes.

Vawah-la, the finished piece. This was an amazing piece to work on. The subject had such hypnotic eyes.
Got any painting stories or process pieces? Feel free to share them here!

Coraline!

So I have added a new member to my shelf of friends and foes. It's Coraline of coarse (and she's caught in Gloomy Bear's evil death grip)! What an amazing character and equally amazing film. I absolutely adored every second of it.
Mr. Henry Selick has done it again; dazzling visuals, intriguing lead character, and all around magical movie. I've seen it twice on the big screen and will definitely buy it to own. Oh sweet Coraline... Check out more goodness here: Coraline.com

Meet you at the Soda Bar.

Friday evening had exceptionally clear skies and a brisk breeze. Conditions were perfect to get out of the house and cram into the Soda Bar to see friends and listen to some good tunes.
The fine folks of
supplied the music for the night.

And what a great time so introduce some of my new 1" buttons (soon to be added to my Etsy shop)! Check out these amazing models...They sure do look fancy, would you not agree?!

Fun fun fun indeed.
